I think daily life in Japan and Colombia differs and seems in various cultural and
social aspects. First, in Japan, punctuality, rever
ence for authority, and adherence to social norms are valued, evidenced through rituals like tea ceremonies and ikebana. On the other hand, in Colombia, attitudes toward time are more relaxed, with an emphasis on social relationships and family celebrations, along with a vibrant music and dance scene including salsa and cumbia. In addition, regarding work and leisure, Japan is characterized by long work hours and intense dedication to careers, while Colombia seeks a greater balance between work and personal life, with outdoor activities like hiking and beach visits. Moreover, culinary-wise, Japanese cuisine stands out for its freshness and aesthetic presentation, contrasting with the regional diversity of Colombian cuisine. Therefore, transportation varies, with Japan being highly efficient, while Colombia prefers buses, taxis, and motorcycles. Besides, in housing, Japan features smaller spaces in urban areas, while Colombia sees common single-family homes. Lastly, educationally, Japan is known for its academic rigor, whereas in Colombia, educational quality varies between urban and rural areas. All in all, despite these differences, both societies are influenced by socio-economic and cultural factors affecting the daily lives of their inhabitants.

I was surprised because you are right, there is a lot of difference between Japan and Colombia regarding their way of guaranteeing your life in a job and in education, but what I know is that one must improve oneself no matter which country one is in.
ReplyDeleteI'm passionate about Japanese culture. You wrote about a lot of aspects. A fusion of both countries' characteristics must be great! I mean, a real balance between study, work, social relationships, and so on. Japan culture seems to be so exigent and I think it's important to spend time on relaxing activities and socialize with others rather than focus just on studies and work.
ReplyDeleteMarcela I like to know the difference between ours and the culture in Japan, since we can know that ceremonies are an important aspect in their daily activities. On the other hand, I agree about education. Unfortunately in Colombia, we need to improve in that aspect.

If you want, you can also check my blog about Chinese customs.
